Updates that appear in Search and Maps
Google Business Profile is not a social network, but it is the first place people look when they search for a shop or a company. When someone searches your business name, the panel next to the map shows your hours and photos, and an "Updates" section where whatever you post appears as is. You do not need to gather followers first. Reaching the people who are already looking for you is the big difference from other networks.
It suits things people about to visit will be glad to know: a temporary closure, changed hours, a seasonal menu, a new service. In SNS TOWN you write these updates in the same screen as your X and Instagram posts and manage them on the same calendar.
What SNS TOWN can do with Google Business Profile
Select your Google Business Profile account in the header and the composer switches to the update format. Anything that cannot be published shows up before you publish.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Text | Up to 1,500 characters, counted one by one |
| Image | One image. Video and GIF are not supported |
| Action button | One of six: Learn more, Book, Order online, Buy, Sign up, Call now. Attach the destination URL |
| Schedule and drafts | Publish now, publish at a set time, or keep as a draft |
| Posting cycle | Pick days and times and the AI prepares drafts |
| Reviews | Read new reviews in the inbox and write replies |
| Delete | Remove a published update from SNS TOWN |
Hashtags and @ mentions mean nothing on Google Business Profile, so the AI drafts leave them out. Write the body as an announcement of around 300 characters and use the action button to lead to the next step, such as booking or viewing the menu. The composer is explained with photos in How the composer differs by network.
Choosing the action button
An update can carry one button under the text. The label comes from six options set by Google and cannot be changed.
- Learn more: a blog or announcement page. The most general choice
- Book: a booking page. For salons, clinics and restaurant tables
- Order online: a page for takeout or online orders
- Buy: a product page
- Sign up: an event or membership form
- Call now: calls the phone number on your profile. No URL needed
You can also publish without a button. Keep one message per update and pick the button that matches it, and people are more likely to tap.
If you have several locations
If one Google account manages several shops or locations, you choose one location when connecting. Each location appears in SNS TOWN as its own account, so you can publish different updates per shop. To publish the same update to every shop, duplicate the post as a draft for the other locations.
Replying to reviews
On Google Business Profile, reactions mean reviews. In SNS TOWN new reviews arrive in the inbox and you write your reply in the same screen as replies on other networks. The reply is published under the review and is visible to everyone who reads it later.
Replies to reviews are never sent automatically. The lower the rating, the more the wording matters, so a person reads the review before answering. You can ask the AI for a draft, but read it before sending rather than sending it as is.
Things to watch when running Google Business Profile
Updates slip down to a less visible spot as time passes. Posting about once a week, with hours, notices and seasonal topics, keeps a fresh update in view whenever someone searches. With a posting cycle the AI prepares a draft on your chosen days, which makes the habit easier to keep.
Writing a phone number or a URL directly in the text can get the update held in Google's review. Leave contact details to your profile information, keep the text to the announcement itself, and attach the destination with the action button.
Frequently asked questions
Is this different from Google My Business?
It is the same thing. Google My Business was renamed Google Business Profile in 2021. SNS TOWN uses the new name.
Can I attach a video?
No. An update can carry at most one image. Publish videos on YouTube or Instagram and link to them from the update with the "Learn more" button.
Can I publish to other networks at the same time?
Cross-posting, publishing the same post at once, works only for the pairs X with Threads and Facebook with Instagram. For Google Business Profile, duplicate the post as a draft, reshape it as an update and publish it.
Can I delete a published update?
Yes. Deleting it from the post screen removes it from Google's updates, and SNS TOWN keeps the record marked as deleted.
Can reviews be answered automatically?
No. Reviews arrive in the inbox and a person answers them. Auto-reply covers replies on X and Threads only.
