See Follower and Engagement Trends on One Screen with Social Analytics

Opening each social network's own dashboard one by one takes time all by itself. SNS TOWN Analytics reads back the follower counts and engagement of your connected accounts once a day, and brings the trend over time and per-post numbers together on one screen.

Why there's never time to look at the numbers

Once you keep posting, you start wondering whether things are going well lately. But to check, you have to open X Analytics, Instagram Insights, Facebook Page Insights and YouTube Studio, and each has different screens and different terms. If you try to go through them all at the end of the month, copying numbers takes half a day and leaves no time to think about the real question: what to change next.

SNS TOWN Analytics leaves the work of collecting numbers to a daily routine so the person in charge can spend their time reading the trends. The thinking behind analytics itself is explained in The Basics of Social Media Analytics.

Which networks and numbers are read back

Numbers are read back from each network's official API. Right now numbers can be read for these four.

NetworkAccount numbersPer-post numbers
XFollowersImpressions, likes, reposts, replies, quotes, bookmarks
InstagramFollowersLikes, comments
Facebook PageFollowersReactions, comments, shares
YouTubeSubscribersViews, likes, comments

Threads, LinkedIn and TikTok aren't counted yet, because we haven't obtained permission to read their engagement. On the Analytics screen, such an account shows "Not counted because there is no permission to read engagement."

Per-post numbers cover posts published from SNS TOWN. Posts published directly from each network's own app don't appear in this screen's per-post table. Follower counts are an account-level value, so they are read back regardless of where posts were published from.

The two line charts at the top

At the top of the Analytics screen, followers appear on the left and engagement on the right as line charts. You can choose the period from "1 week", "3 months", "6 months" or "1 year".

The current period is drawn as a solid dark line, with the previous period of the same length overlaid as a thin dashed line. For example, if you choose 3 months, you can compare its shape with the 3 months just before it. Below the numbers you'll see the change from the previous day, and period numbers come with the change from the previous period. Followers are compared by the count at the end of each period, and engagement by the total over each period.

You can switch engagement between impressions, likes and replies. Because the totals are built by taking each account's day-to-day difference first, connecting a new account midway doesn't make its running total jump up as one day's engagement. On days when numbers couldn't be read, the previous day's value is carried over, so the line doesn't drop unnaturally.

If you've selected one account in the header, you see only that account. If you've selected "All", you see the numbers for all connected accounts combined.

Day of week x time of day, and with or without images

Below the line charts is a table that splits posts from the last 30 days by day of week and 3-hour time slots. The numbers are engagement per post (the total of likes, reposts, replies, quotes and bookmarks), and darker colors mean slots with more engagement. Times are Japan time.

Next to it is a table comparing posts with images or video against posts without. It lists the count and engagement per post side by side, so you can check with your own numbers whether posts with images get more reaction on your account. If you want a quicker read on day and time trends, Best Posting Time shows the top 3 above the posts screen.

Per-post table and CSV

At the bottom is a list of posts published in the last 30 days. Click the column headings for time posted, impressions, likes, reposts, replies and total to sort by them. You can see from the top which posts did well. Click a post's time to go to that post's page.

Click "CSV" to export the numbers for all of a company or brand's posts. Columns include network, account, time posted and text, plus each number. You can use it as source data for a monthly report. How to put a report together is explained in How to Build a Monthly Social Media Report.

When the numbers refresh

Account numbers are read back once a day. For posts, numbers are read every day for the first 3 days after posting, then once more on day 7. Engagement on social networks concentrates right after posting and nearly stops after about a week, so this schedule captures most of the movement.

If you want the latest numbers right away, click "Refresh". The same account can be re-read once every 10 minutes. The time of the last read appears below the table.

About plans

Analytics is available from the Team plan. On the Personal plan you can try it using credits. For X posts, there is a per-plan limit on how many posts are read back in a day. On days when you post a lot, new posts and the final read are handled first, and the rest move to the next day. You can compare plans on the pricing page. How to read the screen is covered in Watch Followers and Engagement Trends and Popular Times and Per-Post Numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Are posts made directly from a network's app counted?

They don't appear in the per-post table. Only posts published from SNS TOWN are counted. Follower counts are an account-level value, so they are read back every day however you post.

Can I see Threads or LinkedIn numbers?

Not right now, because we haven't obtained permission to read their engagement. Numbers can be read for four networks: X, Instagram, Facebook Page and YouTube.

Why doesn't the dashed line for the previous period appear?

Before SNS TOWN started reading your numbers, there is nothing to compare against. After you've connected an account for twice as many days as the period you chose, the previous-period line is complete. A line chart starts drawing once there are two days of numbers.

The numbers differ a little from the network's own dashboard

SNS TOWN shows values read back once a day at a set time. Each network's own dashboard shows the latest value at the moment you look, so the difference is whatever was added after the read-back. Click "Refresh" to re-read the value as of that moment.

Is an engagement rate shown?

The screen shows total engagement and engagement per post. If you want a rate, export the CSV and divide by impressions or follower count. The calculation is explained in Calculating and Reading Engagement Rate.
