Social Media for Construction and Renovation Firms: Turn Site Photos into Trust

In construction and renovation, much of the value lies in work that can't be seen once the job is finished. Photos taken on site are one of the few ways to show it. In SNS TOWN, site photos flow from a Google Drive folder into the Library and AI writes drafts from your company materials, so people on site never have to think about post text.

What tends to go wrong with construction social media

The most common problem is that photos sit on site workers' phones and never reach the office person in charge. Site supervisors and craftspeople take photos every day, but sending them to the social media person is just extra work, so asking them doesn't last.

Next, only finished-job photos get posted. A beautiful finish catches the eye, but every company posts similar photos. What sets companies apart is the work that disappears once the job is done, such as base preparation, piping methods and careful protection of surfaces, and those photos never appear.

Then there is what shows up in the background. Photos sometimes go out with the client's house exterior, nameplate, car license plates or neighbors' homes visible.

What to post

In construction and renovation, showing process and people builds trust.

TypeExample post topics
ProcessPhotos at each stage from demolition to completion, base and waterproofing work, why you chose a material
CraftspeopleIntroductions, how they care for tools, qualifications and specialties
Safety and neighborsMorning meetings and safety checks, protection and cleaning, greeting neighbors
KnowledgeWhen to repaint exterior walls, where leaks tend to start, how to look up subsidies
CompanyOffice location, flow from consultation to estimate, areas you serve

A few photos that follow the process are information only your company can offer, more than a single finished-job photo.

How to run it in SNS TOWN

Collect site photos from a Drive folder

Create an "SNS" folder in your shared Google Drive and ask site staff to just drop photos in. Connect the folder with Google Drive sync and SNS TOWN checks it every hour and adds new images, videos and PDFs to the Library. Anything removed from the folder is removed from the Library too. Site staff never need to open social media.

Let the AI read your company materials

Put PDFs such as your company brochure, case studies and work explanations in the Library and mark them for the AI to read, and facts from them appear in drafts. In the company profile, write your specialties, areas served, tone and things not to write.

Draw images when photos are lacking

For knowledge posts, such as when to repaint exterior walls, a site photo may not fit. In those cases you can also have AI draw an image. Images presented as case studies, however, must always be real photos of the actual site.

Set a posting pace

If you place slots in your post cycle, such as "Tuesday and Friday at 12:00", drafts are prepared for each slot and approved ones go out on time. When rain stops work on site, you can approve a batch at once.

Things to watch out for

Client permission, and what appears in the photo

Get the client's consent before posting photos of their home. If you write the scope of consent (for example, the exterior may be shown but not photos that reveal the address) under "Things not to write" in the company profile, AI drafts follow it. For photos, check before adding them to the Library that no nameplate, license plate, neighboring house or worker's face is visible.

Keep claims about your work truthful

Japan's Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations prohibits representations that make quality look significantly better than it is. The Consumer Affairs Agency can also ask for evidence for claims about the performance or durability of work, and if it cannot be provided the claim is treated as a misleading representation (Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan: overview of representation regulation). If you write "No. 1 in the area" or "over X projects completed", keep the evidence for how you counted.

Recruiting posts have their own rules

This is an industry that often announces openings for craftspeople on social media. Job information is subject to Japan's Employment Security Act. See Social media for recruiting for details.

Frequently asked questions

Do site staff need an SNS TOWN account?

If they only drop photos in the Google Drive folder, they do not need an account. Only the people who check posts need to be members.

Can I put videos in the Library?

Yes. Videos placed in the Drive folder also go into the Library. The length and number of videos you can attach differ by network, and the compose screen changes to match the rules.

Our company doesn't allow sharing Drive folders externally

If you can't share the folder, use "Import selected files" in the Library to bring in just the files you choose, on the spot.

I'd like to organize posts by job site

You can tag posts. Tags such as "Smith residence" or "exterior painting" let you filter the list by site or type of work. Who confirmed with the client can be kept in each post's internal note (Internal notes and tags on posts).

I want to post a set of case-study photos

For a run of process photos, choose a network that takes many images. X takes 4, and Instagram and Threads take up to 20.
