YouTube Shorts is the entrance to videos people search for
YouTube Shorts is a space for short vertical videos inside YouTube. Swiping up on a smartphone to watch one after another is similar to TikTok and Reels, but YouTube has many people who search for videos. This makes it easy to build a flow where Shorts get you noticed and longer videos or your website explain in detail.
YouTube's official Help says that a Short is a vertical or square video up to 3 minutes long (YouTube Help: Upload YouTube Shorts). Horizontal videos and videos over 3 minutes are treated as ordinary videos, not Shorts.
Status as of October 2026
A service that uploads videos to YouTube from outside must go through two reviews: Google's app verification and YouTube's API usage review. SNS TOWN has applied for both, and once the reviews are complete, we will make it connectable for everyone. When it becomes available, we will tell you in a notice on the home screen.

What you can do with YouTube Shorts in SNS TOWN
When you pick a YouTube account in the header, the composer changes to the YouTube layout and the send button becomes "Upload."

Symbols that cannot be used in a title (< and >) are removed before publishing. Videos published from SNS TOWN are declared to YouTube as "not made for kids." If you want to publish a video as made for kids, publish it from YouTube Studio.
For the video, either pick one you put in the Library or upload a file from your device in the composer. SNS TOWN has no feature to make videos, so you use a video you shot and edited on your smartphone as it is. How to attach images and video is explained in Attaching images and videos.
Rules specific to video networks
YouTube and TikTok are networks with only one video per post. SNS TOWN therefore handles them a little differently from other networks.

They are not included in post cycles because, even if AI writes the text, a person has to shoot and prepare the video itself. For video networks, you schedule a post on the day the video is ready. The check right before publishing stops posts with no video and posts that come less than 1 hour after the neighboring post.
What analytics shows
Analytics reads the trend of channel subscribers and number of videos, plus views, likes and comments for each video. Videos published as Shorts are counted the same way. For detailed numbers such as watch time and where viewers came from, please check YouTube Studio's analytics.
Tips for running YouTube Shorts
What matters in Shorts is making clear what the video is about in the first 1 to 2 seconds. Putting what you want to show first, such as hands at work, the finished result or the answer to a common question, makes people more likely to stop swiping. When you put text on the screen, make it large enough to read on a vertical smartphone screen.
Write the title with words that someone searching for that video might use. In the description, adding a link to a page with more details or a related longer video lets you lead people from a Short to the next step. When will I be able to connect YouTube?
As soon as Google's review is complete. As of October 2026 the review is in progress, and regular users cannot press "Connect." We will tell you in a notice on the home screen when it becomes available.
Can I publish horizontal videos too?
Yes. But under YouTube's rules, horizontal videos and videos over 3 minutes are treated as ordinary videos, not Shorts. If you want people to see it as a Short, make it vertical or square and no longer than 3 minutes.
What happens if I forget to enter a title?
The first line of the description becomes the title. It is cut to fit within 100 characters, and "#Shorts" is added at the end when it fits.
Can AI make my video?
No. What SNS TOWN's AI makes is text and images; videos are ones you prepare yourself.
