A Post Composer That Adapts to Each Network, with Live Preview

Each network allows a different number of images, counts characters differently and offers different options. SNS TOWN's composer swaps fields and limits to match the network of the account chosen in the header, and shows your text in the preview just as that network displays it. It is meant to reduce "it got cut off" and "I couldn't add that" after posting.

So you don't have to memorize the differences between networks

X counts full-width characters as two. Threads allows up to 500 characters. Instagram won't accept a post without an image or video. Poll durations, the number of images and the choices for who can reply all differ by network. Expecting a social media manager with other duties to remember all of this is unrealistic, and even if you do, you can still find after posting that the end of the text was cut off.

SNS TOWN's composer takes on these differences on the screen's side. You don't choose the network inside the composer. Switch accounts in the header, and the toolbar, audience, who can reply, character limit and button wording change to that network's. Combinations that can't be posted either don't show the field at all or are stopped before posting.

It shows in that network's look as you type

On the right of the screen is a live preview that resembles the selected network. It updates each time you type or add an image, and shows the part over the limit in red. You can check line break positions and how a set of images will look before you post.

Character counting depends on the network. X counts the same way X itself does: one full-width character counts as 2, one half-width character as 1, an emoji as 2, and a URL as 23 regardless of its length. Free accounts have a limit of 280 characters (140 full-width characters). When the remaining count goes below 0, the number turns red and the post can't go out as it is. For accounts that can write long posts, such as with X Premium, the limit is widened based on information read from X when the account was connected, and past a certain length the counter switches to a long-post ring.

Other networks count one visible character as 1. The limits are in the table in the next section (SNS TOWN's settings as of October 2026). The differences in counting per network are explained in Character Limits and How Each Network Counts.

Images, GIFs, video and extra details

What you can attach is fixed by network. The composer lets you add images and video only within the ranges in this table.

NetworkText limitWhat you can attach
X280 (140 full-width characters); 12,500 for long-post accountsEither 4 images, 1 GIF or 1 video
Threads500 charactersUp to 20 images and videos mixed
Instagram2,200 charactersUp to 20 images and videos mixed (at least one required)
Facebook Page63,206 charactersUp to 10 images
LinkedIn3,000 charactersUp to 9 images
YouTube ShortsDescription 5,000 characters1 video only
TikTok2,200 characters1 video only

The upload limits are 5 MB for images, 15 MB for GIFs and 50 MB for video.

You can add a description (ALT text), used by screen readers for people with low vision, to images. It can be up to 1,000 characters per image on X and 200 characters on LinkedIn. You can tag up to 10 people per image on X and up to 20 on Instagram. Image sizes that suit each network are summarized in Image and Video Sizes for Each Network.

Network-specific items are also entered on this screen. On Threads, a topic and a link card. On Instagram, collaborators (up to 3) and whether to also show a Reel in the feed. On YouTube, the title and the choice of public, unlisted or private. On TikTok, whether to allow comments, Duet and Stitch, and the disclosure of promotional content. An Instagram post can't go out unless it has at least one image or video.

Polls, threads, emoji and who can reply

Polls can be made on X, Threads and LinkedIn. On X, a poll has 2 to 4 options, each up to 25 characters, and a duration of 5 minutes to 7 days. A Threads poll closes after 24 hours. On LinkedIn you add a question, options are up to 30 characters, and the duration is chosen from 1, 3, 7 or 14 days. On X, a poll and images can't be attached to the same post.

On X and Threads, click + to add as many follow-up posts as you like. When published, they connect from the top down, each as a reply to the one before, making one thread. Use it for announcements you want read in sequence or steps you want to show in parts.

Emoji can be picked from a list using the same artwork X uses (Twemoji), searched in Japanese and chosen in different skin tones. For who can reply, X offers 5 choices, including everyone, accounts you follow, verified accounts and accounts you mention, and Threads offers 4. X's audience can be everyone, a community, or subscribers only, and LinkedIn's is everyone or connections only.

Post now, schedule, or keep as a draft

The default button on the X composer is "Post", which publishes right away (on Threads it is "Post", on Instagram "Share"). To post at a set time, enter the date and time in the 📅 dialog and the button changes to "Schedule". Scheduled posts are published by SNS TOWN at that time. If you don't plan to publish yet, keep it with "Save draft" and send it to approval or editing later.

Even after you press the button, the pre-publish check runs just before posting. Combinations that would fail if published, such as exceeding the character limit or an Instagram post with no image, are stopped there. The steps for posting, scheduling and drafts are in the help guides Post Right Now and Schedule a Post to Go Out Later.

Combining with other features

From "Insert a template" above the text, you can insert a greeting or opening hours you use often at the cursor. You register templates for each company on the Templates page. When the text includes a URL, a "Shorten URL" switch appears, and you can see the number of clicks on the post's page.

For the pairs X and Threads, and Facebook Page and Instagram, one "Also post to" switch creates the same post for the partner account (for newly created posts only). On X and Threads, you can also set up automatic replies to replies containing a specific word from this screen. At the very bottom is the "Write with AI" field, where you give a theme and an AI draft creates the text and image.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I choose the network in the composer?

The fields and limits change a lot depending on the network, so switching partway would make what you entered no longer fit. Decide the network by switching accounts in the header, then write.

The X character count differs from what the X app shows

SNS TOWN counts the same way X does (full-width 2, half-width 1, emoji 2, URL 23). If it looks different, check the characters around the URL and how emoji combinations are counted. The part over the limit turns red in the preview.

Can I write long X Premium posts?

Yes. SNS TOWN reads from X whether the connected account can post long posts, and widens the limit. After you change your plan, re-read the account from X on the social accounts screen.

Can I attach images and video to the same post?

On Threads and Instagram, you can mix them. On X, only one of 4 images, 1 GIF or 1 video.

Are scheduled posts registered in the network's own scheduling feature?

No. SNS TOWN publishes at the scheduled time. How credits are handled for scheduled posts and drafts is summarized on the pricing page.

Can I delete a post after publishing?

On X and some other networks, you can delete the post on the network from the post's page. For Instagram and TikTok, because of the networks' rules, it can't be deleted from SNS TOWN. The steps are in the help guide Delete a Post.
