Threads grows through conversation
Threads is a text-centered network run by Meta. It grows less through striking photos and more through a short topic and the replies that follow. For a shop's or company's official account, topics that invite replies, such as "We got a lot of this question this week" or "Here is the effort behind this task," work better than lining up photos of new products.
Another feature is that each post can have only one topic. This differs from networks where you line up many hashtags to be found; you choose the one thing the post is most about. SNS TOWN's composer shows just one topic field to match this rule.
What you can do with Threads in SNS TOWN
When you pick a Threads account in the header, SNS TOWN's composer changes its fields to match what Threads can publish. Combinations that can't be published are flagged on the screen before you publish.
| What you can do | Details |
|---|---|
| Text | Up to 500 characters. Characters are counted one by one |
| Images and video | Up to 20 items per post combined (carousel). Images and video can be mixed |
| Topic | One per post, up to 50 characters. "." and "&" cannot be used |
| Link card | 1 URL in a post without images or video |
| Poll | 2 to 4 choices, up to 25 characters each. Duration of 24 hours |
| Thread | Chain as many posts as you like after your own post |
| Who can reply | Everyone / Profiles you follow / Followers / Profiles you mention |
| Location and image descriptions | Location search, and image descriptions (ALT text) up to 1,000 characters each |
| Delete | You can delete published posts from SNS TOWN |
Text can be up to 500 characters, and images and video can be mixed up to 20 items. The values listed here are the ones SNS TOWN has set to match Threads' official API. Threads' own specifications are collected in the Threads API posts documentation. Details of the composer are explained with photos in How composers differ by network.
Scheduling, drafts and approval work like X
For Threads posts too, you can choose between posting now, scheduling for a set date and time, or saving as a draft. If you create a post cycle, AI prepares drafts to match the days and times you set, and only posts a person has read and approved go out. Unlike the video networks (YouTube and TikTok), Threads can be included in post cycles and in drafts from RSS.
The text you write passes a check right before publishing. On Threads, what gets stopped is text that is too long and posts that come less than 1 hour after the neighboring post. Items derived from X's recommendation system, such as URLs in the body or the number of hashtags, are only shown as cautions on Threads. Each network has its own rules about reach, so X's standards are not applied as they are.
Publishing together with X
Because both are mainly text, X and Threads can be published as a pair. When you create a post for an X account, and a Threads account is also connected, a "Post to Threads too" switch appears. Turn it on and a post with the same text and images is created on Threads too, at the same time. See simultaneous posting for details.
Note, however, that the same text is counted differently. X counts one full-width character as 2 and allows 280; Premium accounts allow 25,000. Threads counts each character as 1 and allows 500. Text that fits on X also fits on Threads, but text written long for Threads can exceed X's limit. The difference in counting is summarized in Character limits and how each network counts.
Responding to replies
Because Threads is a network for conversation, how you respond to replies matters. SNS TOWN's auto replies support X and Threads. When a reply containing a keyword you set comes in on a post, it answers individually, either with text AI writes or with text you decided in advance. You can also set it up so a person checks before it is sent.
A Threads reply can use up to 500 characters, but the text sent automatically is kept short. A short line that picks up the other person's words keeps a conversation going better than a long reply.
Tips for running Threads
What draws reactions on Threads is a question people want to answer, and behind-the-scenes stories you can't read elsewhere. Instead of lining up promotional text every day, mixing in a few posts a week like "A customer asked us this question" tends to attract replies.
Since you can add only one topic, think each time, "What words would someone looking for this subject use to search?" Changing the topic to fit each post's content, rather than attaching the same one every time, reaches people interested in that subject.
A link can be attached as a card to a post without images. When you want to show a URL together with images, write the URL in the body, or connect an image post and a link post as a thread. Getting started and how reach works are covered in detail in Threads basics.
Frequently asked questions
Are Threads and Instagram connected together?
No. In SNS TOWN, you press "Connect" and grant permission for each network and each account. Threads connects from Threads' authorization screen, and Instagram from Instagram's.
Can I post to Threads later what I already posted on X?
You can't copy it after it is published, but if you turn on "Post to Threads too" when you create the post, both go out at the same time. You can also duplicate a published post as a draft for another account, adjust it, and publish.
Can I change the poll duration?
Threads polls close after 24 hours, and SNS TOWN publishes them with that length. You can choose the duration on X and LinkedIn: X from 5 minutes to 7 days, and LinkedIn from 1, 3, 7 or 14 days.
Can I see Threads analytics?
As of October 2026, Threads engagement counts are not read. Analytics supports X, Instagram, Facebook Pages and YouTube. Please check Threads numbers in the Threads app.
Can I delete a published post?
Yes. If you delete a post on Threads from the post screen, SNS TOWN's record is also kept as deleted.
