The score is the sum of weighted predicted reactions
X ranks the posts in the For You feed with a score calculated separately for each viewer. The score is the predicted probability that this person will reply, copy the link, like, and so on, each multiplied by that reaction's weight and added up. Because it works on predictions rather than actual counts, even a brand-new post gets a score.
The weights are written in the xai-org/x-algorithm configuration that X has published. SNS TOWN read the version as of October 22, 2026 and uses it in its pre-publish check.
Heavy reactions and light reactions
| Reaction | Weight |
|---|---|
| Copy link to share | 20 |
| Reply | 5 |
| Quote | 5 |
| Follow | 4 |
| Share | 2 |
| Repost | 1 |
| Like | 0.66 |
A like is worth only about 1/30 of a reaction where someone copies the link and sends it to a friend. For recommendations, putting in something people want to pass along works better than collecting likes.
"Downgrading" reactions that weigh many times more
| Reaction | Weight |
|---|---|
| Not interested | -52.272 |
| Mute | -58.8 |
| Block | -31.2 |
| Report | -234 |
Even a small rise in the chance of someone tapping "Not interested" wipes out dozens of likes. The first thing a business account should watch for is not growing, but not getting these reactions. Pushy sales copy, clickbait, and thin text that could apply to anything are the most likely to trigger them.
What this means for how a business account writes
Say it in one post, on one topic
The second and later posts in a thread, and replies, are built so that they rarely reach people outside your followers. Finishing your point in a single post reaches further than writing "more in the replies."
Keep URLs out of the body
Depending on the reputation of the page you link to, a post can be shown less to people who don't follow you. When you need to share a link, put it in a reply or a pinned post instead.
Don't ask for reactions
"Please like and repost" is the kind of wording that gets "Not interested" tapped. Hashtags don't count toward the score, so 0 or 1 is plenty.
Don't reuse similar text
Repeating nearly identical text is treated as spam, and similar posts are less likely to be shown side by side. When the same account appears several times in one view, the second post is multiplied by 0.625 and the third by 0.44, so spacing your posts out helps them reach more people.
