The work of entering the same thing separately
Companies that use both X and Threads, or shops that use a Facebook Page together with Instagram, often post the same announcement in two places. Recreating the post each time, re-attaching images and scheduling at the same time is quiet but steady time loss. You may forget to schedule one, or the times drift apart.
On the other hand, pushing the same text to every network at once tends to fail because character counts and image rules don't match. Each network is also read differently. How to use each network is covered in How to Choose Social Networks. SNS TOWN lets you post at the same time only to pairs of two similar networks.
Pairs that can post together
The partner for cross-posting is fixed by these pairs.
| Network you post from | Partner |
|---|---|
| X | Threads |
| Threads | X |
LinkedIn has no partner. YouTube and TikTok are one-video-at-a-time posts, so they are not included in cross-posting.
Only when the partner account is connected to the same company or brand, an "Also post to" switch appears on the composer. If there are two or more partner accounts, you can choose which one to post to.
One switch is all it takes
Prepare the text and images on the composer, turn the switch on, then click "Post", "Schedule" or "Save draft". The partner also gets a post with the same text, images and time. The browser remembers the switch's on or off state for each account. If your company always posts to both, you don't need to turn it on each time.
The partner's post is created as a separate post. Two tags line up on the calendar, and before they go out you can open and edit just one of them. As with scheduled posts, you can change the text and time before it goes out.

The system handles differences between networks
Even the same post can do different things on different networks. When SNS TOWN creates the partner's post, it adjusts as follows.
Polls
If a post has a poll and the partner network supports polls, the poll is attached with the number of options and duration adjusted to the partner's rules. If it doesn't fit, for example when there are more options than the partner allows, only the partner's post loses the poll.
Who can reply, audience and location
Fine settings that differ by network, such as who can reply and the audience, are set to that network's default values on the partner's side.
Auto-replies, campaigns and DMs
Auto-reply settings are attached only to the side where you made the post. The same goes for campaigns and auto DMs, which are not attached to the partner.
When the partner can't post, only the partner is held back
A post that doesn't meet the partner network's rules is placed as a draft on the partner's side only, and you're told why. For example, if you cross-post a Facebook Page post without an image, Instagram requires an image or video, so only the Instagram side becomes a draft. The side you created goes out as planned, so a problem on one side never stops both.
Character limits differ by network too. X allows 280 for a free account (full-width characters count as 2), Threads 500, Instagram 2,200 and Facebook 63,206 (the values SNS TOWN uses for its check). If you cross-post a long text from Threads to X, only the X side may exceed the limit and be placed as a draft. Each network's features are summarized on the Threads and Instagram pages.
Order when posting right now
When you post right away with "Post", the side you created goes out first, then the partner. If the partner fails, the post that already went out stays as it is, and the screen shows the reason, such as "Posted to X, but failed on Threads". You can send the failed side again from its post page.
When the text includes a URL, short links are created separately for each network. You can check the number of clicks on each post's page.
How it works step by step
- Choose the account you're posting from in the header and open "New post".
- Prepare the text and images, and turn on the "Also post to" switch.
- Click "Post", or set a date and time and click "Schedule".
- If the partner side is placed as a draft, read the reason shown and fix it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I post to networks that aren't a pair, like X and Instagram?
No. You can post at the same time only to the pairs X and Threads, and Facebook and Instagram. For other combinations, create a post on each network.
Can I change the text on the partner side only?
Yes. The partner's post is created as a separate post, so before it goes out you can open it from the calendar or list and edit it.
The switch doesn't appear
It doesn't appear unless the partner network's account is connected to the same company or brand. Connect the partner on the social accounts screen. Also, the switch appears only on the screen for creating a new post.
Does cross-posting cost credits for two posts?
Each network counts as one post. Within your plan's allowance, no credits are used. For details, see Pricing and Plans.
If I delete one, is the other deleted too?
No. They are separate posts, so you delete them one at a time.
